Plum butter, known in Germany as Pflaumenmus, is one of the country's oldest fruit spreads. Unlike traditional preserves, ripe plums are slowly cooked for hours until they develop a thick, smooth consistency and a rich caramelized flavor. Maintal Plum Butter follows this classic German tradition, producing an intensely fruity spread with warm notes of cinnamon and spice that has been enjoyed for generations.
Spread it generously on buttered bread, rye toast, or warm breakfast rolls, or use it as a filling for pastries, yeast buns, doughnuts, and holiday cookies. Plum butter is equally delicious served with pancakes, potato pancakes, waffles, or incorporated into sauces for roast pork and other hearty German dishes.
Ingredients: Plums, sugar, and spices - including cinnamon, cloves, anise, star anise - prepared according to the traditional German method. Nutrition (per 100 g): approximately 240 calories, less than 0.5 g fat, about 58 g carbohydrates (primarily natural fruit sugars and added sugar), less than 1 g protein, and very little salt. Have tried others and this is not too sweet, and not tart well balanced. It is also perfect consistency. Just use it to spread on bread.

There is nothing better than those preserves. There is a perfect balance of sweet and sour in them. Especially in the fall there is nothing better than a tray of freshly baked plum butter yeast crescent rolls, I tell you!
