Enjoy a home-made poppy seed roll with this baking mix kit from Kathi, the baking specialist from Halle, Saxony-Anhalt.

You only need to add: 40 g butter or margarine, 110 ml lukewarm water, 1 egg (size M), 200 ml milk
Ingredients
BAKING MIX:
Wheat flour, sugar, skimmed milk powder, table salt, flavoring
POPPY SEED FILLING (35.7%):
Ground poppy seeds (38%), sugar, wheat flour, modified potato starch, table salt, flavoring
(May contain traces of soy, mustard, and sesame)
DRY YEAST:
Yeast, emulsifier.
May contain traces of hazelnuts and egg.
It's so easy to make:
Thoroughly mix the baking mix with the dry yeast. Add 40 g soft butter or margarine and 110 ml lukewarm water. Using a hand mixer with dough hooks, knead for about 3 minutes into a smooth dough. Cover with a cloth and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Knead the dough briefly again and roll it out into a rectangle (about 25 x 35 cm). Stir the poppy seed filling with 1 egg and 200 ml milk until smooth. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, leaving a 2 cm border. Roll up from the short side, pressing the dough edges firmly together and tucking in the ends.
Place the poppy seed roll on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Cut lengthwise about 1 cm deep along the top with a sharp knife, then bake.
Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar or glaze as desired.
Conventional oven (top/bottom heat): 200 °C (preheated)
Convection oven: 180 °C (preheated)
